About

Serious about your work. Human about how we get there.

Work can be rewarding, complicated, joyful and occasionally the reason you’re staring at the ceiling at 3 am.

WorkPartner offers thoughtful employment law and workplace advice, with room for the human part of the story.

I’m Katie Toop, an employment lawyer and workplace adviser. My experience spans corporate legal practice and leading an in-house employee relations team. I bring that experience to a deliberately small practice, helping employers and individuals work through workplace questions with clarity, care and a practical way forward.

Small on purpose. Personal by design.

WorkPartner is built around close working relationships. I take on a limited number of clients so I have time to listen properly, understand what matters and tailor my support to the person and situation in front of me.

Sometimes that means a clear agreement or a straightforward policy. Sometimes it’s preparing for a difficult conversation, working through a sensitive concern or having someone alongside you while you decide what comes next.

You can bring the messy version. You don’t need to have everything neatly sorted before we speak.

A little less friction. A little more understanding.

My approach is calm, constructive and grounded in plain language. I ask questions, listen carefully and help turn a tangle of concerns into manageable next steps.

Where possible, I help people resolve issues early and preserve relationships. Where a firmer response is needed, I help you approach it thoughtfully, with a clear sense of your options.

A practice that makes room for life.

WorkPartner is intentionally shaped around my family. I generally work remotely, with flexible working hours and appointments arranged to suit us both. That’s part of the thinking behind the business: good work deserves care and attention, and so do the people doing it.

Personal service. Empathetic support. Intentionally small.
